Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Wednesday told that the Assam health department issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and has allowed reopening the educational institutions of the final-year classes, TDC final year and post-graduation final year — from September 6.
“The state health department is monitoring and management of the Covid-19 situation in the state. Final decision or reopening the schools and colleges will be taken by the health department,” Ranoj Pegu said.
“Special vaccination camps for teachers, other staff, non-teaching staff, and students are being carried out in the block level, district level, elementary education offices, and university campuses across the state,” said the education minister.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Wednesday issued a revised Covid-19 SOP for both rural and urban areas in the state and the consolidated directive has come in force with effect from 11 am on September 1.
According to the new directives of the state government, the physical classes for the postgraduate, graduate, higher secondary final year, GNM/Nursing courses and that of technical institutions shall be allowed for students having at least a single dose of vaccine.
Before the start of physical classes, there will be a 3-day vaccination drive for students, faculty and staff, the hostels of the educational institutions are allowed to open only for the post graduate, graduate and higher secondary final year students with fully vaccinated residents.
