The West Bengal government removed Mahua Das on Friday from his post of state higher education council. Now Javadpur university pro Vice Chancellor Dr Chiranjib Bhattacharya been appointed in her place. In an update August 12, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said Dr Chiranjib Bhattacharya is being appointed as president of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) for four years with immediate effect and it has been approved by the education minister as well. She was facing criticism since the higher education published the result in which 2% of total 8,19,202 candidates got failed which lead to protests by the failed candidates all over the state. There were rumours that maybe this is because she mentioned and highlighted the religion of the topper along with the ratio of unsuccessful candidate in the examination but Mahua Das disagreed with this statement claming,” I don’t think so.” She also said that her tenure was about to end in September.
