Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal recently announced that the Department of School Education and Literacy has developed an online module to identify out-of-school children’s data notified by each state or union territory of the country.
Under this online module data on out-of-school children should be mapped with special training centres (STCs). Compilation of these data set will help in bringing back those children to school classroom. Thus, this module is in line with the key focus of new national education policy.
Information of all identified out-of-school children and STCs will be uploaded at block level under Block Resource Coordinator.
Quarterly progress report and user manual will be shared on portal.
This module was developed as experts and academicians were of the view that, millions of students dropped out of schools amid the covid-19 pandemic as educational institutions are not open and are taking classes online. Reverse migration has also worsened the scenario.
